Frequently Asked Questions
Can I skip the cover page when numbering?
Yes. Set 'Skip first N pages' to 1 and HonestPDF leaves the cover unnumbered. The first numbered page becomes your 'Start from' value, which defaults to 1.
Can I start numbering from a specific number, like 17?
Yes. Set 'Start from' to 17 and the first numbered page displays 17. Useful when splitting a long document into multiple PDFs that need continuous numbering.
Does it support Roman numerals?
Yes. Choose 'i, ii, iii' for lowercase Roman or 'I, II, III' for uppercase. Common for thesis prefaces, book introductions, and formal legal documents.
Can I number only specific pages?
Use the page range option to number a specific range. For example, set range 5-10 to only add numbers to those pages.
Will the page numbers cover existing content?
Page numbers are placed in the page margin (default 30 pixels from edge), avoiding most content. If your PDF has content extending into the margin, increase the margin value or pick a different position.

After adding page numbers, compress the PDF for sharing or use Watermark PDF to add branding alongside the numbering.
