Will my fonts and formatting be preserved in the PDF?
Yes, and you choose how. Both choices lay the document out the same way: its page size, margins, tables, lists, pictures, headers and footers. Selectable text, the default, writes the words as real text you can select, search and copy, with clickable links, in open fonts that stand in for Word's. Pages as pictures draws each page with this device's own fonts and saves it as a picture, so the text cannot be selected.
Is there a file size limit for Word to PDF conversion?
No. Because HonestPDF processes documents using your device's local resources, there are no file size caps or daily task limits. Cloud-based converters typically restrict larger files to premium tiers, but our tool handles lengthy Word documents without any restrictions.
Will my Word document fonts appear correctly in the PDF?
With Selectable text, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New come out at their exact widths. Every other font, Word's default Calibri included, is drawn in the closest of three open fonts (sans, serif or mono), fitted to the same line widths. Pages as pictures uses the fonts on this device, so a font you have installed is drawn as itself.
Can I convert multiple Word documents to PDF at once?
Currently, the tool supports single-file conversion. For batch processing, convert each document individually. Each conversion is instant since it runs locally on your device.
Does the conversion preserve headers, footers, and page numbers?
Yes. Headers and footers are drawn on every page with their page numbers, including a different first page or different odd and even pages when the document sets them. Footnotes come across too.
Is the output PDF suitable for professional printing?
Selectable text, the default, is drawn as text and lines, so it prints sharp at any size, on the page size the document sets. Pages as pictures saves each page at 150 dpi, which suits an office printer but is soft for professional print.
Can I convert .doc files or only .docx?
HonestPDF supports the modern .docx format. If you have an older .doc file, open it in Word or LibreOffice first and save it as .docx before converting.
How is this different from using the Print to PDF option?
Nothing is uploaded, and the layout is done by this page rather than by a printer driver. Selectable text, the default, keeps text and links usable as Print to PDF does; the picture mode is there for when the look matters more than the text. Line breaks can differ a little between devices, because a device that has the document's fonts measures with them.
