1. Who We Are

HonestPDF (gethonestpdf.com) is built and run by SourCode Solutions, which is responsible for the information described on this page. Write to support@gethonestpdf.com about anything on it.

2. What We Collect

Your files never reach us. What does reach us is short, and none of it comes from a document:

• Page views: Vercel Web Analytics counts which pages are opened, with the site that linked to them, the country, and the browser, operating system and type of device. It sets no cookies and does not follow you to other sites.
• Usage counts: when you select a file or download a result, we count the tool, the page language and that step, with a rough duration (such as "under 15 seconds"), roughly how long ago this browser last visited (a first visit, within a week, within a month, or longer), and roughly how many times it has used that tool, and on how many separate occasions (a new occasion starts after 30 minutes without choosing a file in that tool). When you follow a link from a blog article to another page on this site, we count the article, that page and the language. After you save a file in Edit PDF, we also count that a note asking for support was shown, and whether you followed its link, with the page language. No file, file name or text from a document is ever sent.
• Ratings: if you rate a tool, we add your stars to that tool's totals: overall, for the day, for the page language and for the kind of device (such as iOS, Android or Windows). If you add a comment, we keep it as one entry with your stars, the page language, the kind of device and the day.
• Email: only if you write to us.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

To be crystal clear:

• ❌ We do NOT upload your PDF files to our servers.
• ❌ We do NOT read, scan, or analyze your document contents.
• ❌ We do NOT sell your data to third parties.
• ❌ We do NOT track your browsing activity outside our site.

4. How Your Files Are Processed

All PDF processing (merging, splitting, compressing, signing) happens 100% client-side using JavaScript libraries running in your browser. Your files are:

• Loaded into your browser's memory
• Processed using local JavaScript
• Saved directly to your device

At no point do your files leave your computer.

Your documents stay on your device, but a few things reach other websites while you work. The first time the OCR Scanner reads a language, it downloads that language's data from cdn.jsdelivr.net. If Chrome does not have it yet, the first time you use AI Summary it downloads its built-in summary model from Google, a large one-time download. If a document you open in HTML to PDF, Markdown to PDF or AI Chat to PDF shows a picture from another website, your browser loads the picture from that website, and the same goes for web content you paste into HTML to PDF. If you click "View on OpenStreetMap" in Remove Metadata, the location found in your file is sent to openstreetmap.org to show the map. Your document itself is never sent.

5. No Payments

HonestPDF is completely free. We do not process payments or collect billing information.

6. Cookies and Browser Storage

HonestPDF sets no cookies. The language you pick from the menu is remembered in your browser's storage, and a NEXT_LOCALE cookie that an earlier version of the site set is deleted on your next visit. Everything else stays in your browser's own storage and is not sent to us:

• Preferences: your theme, your language, your favorite tools and your usage counting choice.
• Your signature: when you draw, type or upload a signature or initials in Sign or Fill PDF, a picture of it is kept in this browser so it is there next time. It is never sent to us. The clear button in Sign deletes it.
• Work passed between tools: when one tool hands your work to another (OCR Scanner to Privacy Scanner, Privacy Scanner to Redact, Resume Builder to Cover Letter Generator), what it needs waits in this browser until the next tool opens it. For the first two, that is a copy of the document, its name and what the first tool found; if the next tool has not opened it within ten minutes, it is deleted the next time you open a page of this site. The Resume Builder's details wait only in that tab, until the Cover Letter Generator takes them or the tab is closed.
• Usage history: the time of your last visit, how many times and on how many separate occasions you have used each tool, when you last used each one, and when the support note in Edit PDF was last counted as shown, from which the rough counts above are worked out. Turning usage counting off deletes all of it.
• Rating prompts: the stars you gave each tool you rated, and when you last closed the question without answering, so you are not asked again about a tool you rated, or for 30 days after you close it.
• Support note: when you last closed the note asking for support in Edit PDF or followed its link, so it stays away for 30 days.
• OCR languages: the language data the OCR Scanner downloaded, so it is not downloaded again.
• Site files: copies of the site's own scripts and fonts, so the tools load faster next time.

7. How Long We Keep It

Your files are never collected, so there is nothing of them to keep. Usage counts and star ratings are stored as totals per tool and per day, not as a record per visitor, and are kept while the service runs. Each comment is kept as its own entry. The latest 200 per tool are kept, and older ones are deleted as new ones arrive. Vercel keeps page view statistics under its own policy.

8. Who Else Handles It

Three services handle the site's traffic and data on our behalf:

• Vercel hosts the site, so it receives the requests your browser makes, as any host does, and it runs the page view analytics.
• Upstash stores the usage counts and ratings that our server sends it.
• jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) serves the OCR language data.

Buy Me a Coffee hosts our support page. Nothing is sent to it unless you follow that link, and what you do there is under its own privacy policy.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request access to any personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Turn off page view analytics and usage counting with the switch below
