Grok lives inside X, and it has nowhere to save a conversation
Grok is reached mostly through X, on the phone as often as on a desktop, and it has no way to save a conversation as a document: the account data download returns your whole history as raw JSON rather than something you can read or attach, and there is not even a print view worth using. What people actually do is take screenshots, which is why a long Grok thread usually ends up as a camera roll full of overlapping images that nobody can search, quote or attach to anything. There is also a practical wrinkle: because so much of the usage is inside a mobile app, selecting a whole conversation takes more care than it does in a browser, and a half selected thread is easy to miss until you look at the result.
Saving a Grok thread as a real document
- 1.Open the conversation and scroll back to its start, letting the earlier turns load before you try to select anything.
- 2.Select the conversation and copy it. On a phone, press and hold to start the selection, then drag the handles out to cover the whole exchange rather than a single message.
- 3.Paste it into the converter on this page. It works the same on mobile as on desktop, so you do not need to move to a computer first.
- 4.Pick a style and download. The bubble layout keeps the conversational feel, and the transcript layout is the compact one if you are collecting several threads.

Notes for mobile
- Check the top of your paste before converting. A selection that started mid thread is the most common reason the first questions are missing.
- Attached posts and images from X are not part of the copied text, so save any you need separately.
- If you are keeping several threads on one topic, convert them one at a time and name the files consistently. It is much easier than sorting screenshots by date afterwards.
- Because everything runs locally, this works on a phone with a poor connection just as well as on a fast one.
